She rolled her eyes, but smiled. Some days, college was less about textbooks and more about learning to laugh at the little (or not-so-little) surprises your own body threw at you.
Mia froze, then let out a surprised laugh. The guy next to her glanced down at the button, then back up at the gentle curve of her belly peeking through the gap.
Pop.
The small, round button just above her waistband flew off with a soft, plastic clink, landing two seats away. A stunned silence settled over her corner of the row.
She took a deep breath, ready to pack up her notes.
He grinned, picked up the button, and handed it back. “Nah. That’s just the universe saying you’re too much to be contained.”
“Guess I should’ve skipped that second burrito,” she said, tugging her oversized hoodie down.
