The episode opens with a quiet, almost unsettling calm. Ichigo Kurosaki sits on the steps outside Urahara’s shop, his Zanpakutō resting across his knees. The sky is a bruised purple, clouds moving unnaturally fast.

Behind him stands Gin Ichimaru, eyes closed, smiling his fox smile. To his other side, Kaname Tousen, silent.

Aizen removes his glasses and polishes them. “No. But he will be. And when he is, I will break him myself. That is the nature of a king’s chess piece. You let the pawn advance… so the queen can strike.”

For a moment, Isshin’s goofy mask slips. His eyes are ancient, tired, and knowing. “The power you need… you won’t find it by rushing. You’ll find it by surviving.”

He turns to Hitsugaya. “Where do we go first?”
