There are Steven Seagal eras: the Above the Law upstart, the Under Siege icon, and then the mid-2000s direct-to-video descent. Right in the middle of that descent sits – a film that tries so hard to be a Japanese yakuza thriller but ends up being a beautiful, bizarre time capsule.
