All tools in the pack boast fully customizable appearance with a rich set of pens and brushes. The spreadsheet component offers a flexible style system. Charts and calendars support themes and the ability to create custom themes. In maps you can choose the color scheme. Images can be associated with calendar items, added to a report, placed in a diagram node or as a background in a chart. You can choose among several visual effects for your diagrams and calendars. The mapping control lets you use ESRI shape files and the diagramming tool - Visio 2003 VDX files. With the charting tool you can retrieve the data either from a database or data arrays.
User interaction gets special attention in all tools in the pack. Various user actions are enabled and reported - from scrolling and zooming to multiple selection and mouse dragging. You can change interactively the value of a data point in a chart, alter the size of a diagram node or create a new one, resize the column headers in a calendar or pan a map. Hierarchical diagrams and calendar rows can be expanded and collapsed, tool tips are supported too. The spreadsheet component allows multiple object selection, clipboard operations and full undo/redo.
Where Episode 4 stumbles slightly is in its flashback structure. We finally get the full story of the “Seventh Cradle” expedition: a 1982 team, a storm, a contested decision to cut a rope. The young climber who survived? Ayna’s father. The one who was cut? The Last’s brother. The reveal is powerful, but the execution is over-edited. The cross-cutting between Ayna’s frozen fingers on the wall and her father’s frozen fingers on a dead man’s harness becomes repetitive by the third iteration. We understand the parallel. Trust the audience.

The only flaw: the flashbacks could have lost five minutes of runtime and gained twice the power. Still, when the final image fades to black and the theme’s mournful cello swells, you’ll realize you’ve been holding your breath for half an hour.
