It is a standalone, ground-up recreation of every act from the original Sonic 1 —Green Hill, Marble, Spring Yard, Labyrinth, Star Light, and Scrap Brain—using a 3D engine reminiscent of late-90s/early-2000s platformers. The Core Premise: Faithful, Not Fancy The project’s guiding principle is immediately clear upon booting up: this is Sonic 1 ’s level geometry, not its spirit, translated into three dimensions. The rings are still arranged in precise arcs. The enemy placements are identical to the original. The iconic loop-de-loops, vertical springs, and crumbling platforms are all present, but now you approach them from a third-person perspective behind Sonic.
