Jar Jar accidentally frees them by triggering an explosion while trying to “befriend” a giant space slug. The pirates turn on Dooku’s envoy, and the Jedi escape. Jar Jar is hailed as a hero by the Gungans, but the episode reveals Dooku is amassing a pirate fleet for a larger assault on the Outer Rim. On Christophsis, Jedi Master Luminara Unduli and her Padawan Barriss Offee defend a crystal-mining city. Anakin discovers a clone, Slick, is selling battle plans to the Separatists out of disillusionment with the Republic. Slick is arrested but warns that more spies exist. The Republic wins the battle, but the victory feels hollow. Ahsoka begins doubting the war’s morality. Logline: R2-D2 is captured and reprogrammed. Anakin and Ahsoka must retrieve him from General Grievous’s secret droid factory.

Palpatine watches a hologram of the battle, smiling. He activates a comm: “Lord Vader… the plan proceeds.” A distorted voice replies: “Yes, my master.”

Grievous lures Jedi to his lair on Vassek’s third moon. Master Kit Fisto and the inexperienced Nadhar are ambushed. Grievous kills Nadhar and nearly murders Fisto before the Jedi Master escapes using a Force whirlpool. The episode reveals Grievous’s hatred of the Jedi is personal—he keeps their lightsabers as a shrine. Fisto is scarred, both physically and mentally.
