The film follows Carl Fredricksen, a 78-year-old widower who fears he will end up alone in the house he built with his late wife, Ellie. Facing eviction and the end of his quiet life, Carl ties thousands of helium balloons to his home and literally flies away toward Paradise Falls—a promise he made to Ellie decades ago.
